Phu Tok

Full day excursion, either on a rental scooter or taxi, on your own (200b plus petrol) or with a guide.

The temple is located on a sandstone mountain accessed by a series of winding staircases with beautiful views across the surrounding countryside along the way. On the way to the top you will see meditaton huts, caves and views across to Laos. There are seven levels of steps representing the seven steps to Buddhist enlightment.

If you feel like an adventurer, you can even walk on the boardwalks that cover one side of Phu Tok.

Phu Sing, 40 km away ( here the Three Sharkwhales stones)

Phu Lanka, around 45 km away

There are several waterfalls around. One of them can be reached from the park entrance,  the others require transportation (scooter or car). (Available from June to October, an entrance fee might be asked)

Other interesting things to do (on your own or with a guide) :

- the villages around to learn about Isan village life and the handicraft (weaving, bamboo craft)

- the Mekong which is 3 km away, you can rent a boat for an hour or two to cruise on the river.

- the Forest Temple (45 min walk), the rubber trees plantations and many fruits and vegetables plantations,

You can learn to cooking Thai and Isan food, learn about local plants in the garden....

If you would like to spend time and even teach English in the village primary school for one day or more, they will always be happy to welcome you!

Above all, we recommend relaxing in a hammock and watch the rice paddies, the buffaloes and all the little things that makes the Thai countryside so beautiful.
